Every child, however they live, should get a chance to be happy and healthy! Carmal Matha Shanthi Bhavan is dedicated to providing a stable, loving family atmosphere to abandoned or neglected children. The orphanage accepts both infants and older children and equally values girls and boys.

It is a really a daunting task - Rehabilitating these children! At Shanthi Bhavan, our aim is not just giving them the best possible education, but also to instill in them a feeling of responsibility for their brothers residing in Shanthi Bhavan and to other kids who are out in the street. The orphanage focuses on a well-rounded upbringing including nutrition, health care, education and emotional development.

The younger kids are sent to proper schools and the grown-ups are given special coaching to enable them to write higher secondary examinations. Vocational training in electronics, plumbing, tailoring, typewriting , various musical instruments and computer education is also given in addition to the grown up children. We have plans to set up an EDU- SIT [Satellite Interactive Terminal] center within the premise to provide children with a global education. Through EDU-SIT our children will be able to interact with experts in different walks of life. They can thus acquire academic and vocational input as and when they require which will shape and sharpen their lives and widen their horizons.

We intend to help them choose a profession through which they can contribute not only to the society but along with that instill a sense of belonging to a house to which they can always come back to and provide the same sense of belonging to their little brothers housed in Shanthi Bhavan. We aim to give them a sense of ownership to the place.
